Jimbaran Beach

BeachBeachDiningSunset

The classic spot to enjoy seafood BBQ on the sand at sunset. Close to the fishing port atmosphere.

South of the Jimbaran area, standing atop limestone cliffs reveals a stunning vista: an arching white sand beach below, met by rows of white waves. This is Balangan Beach [Note: Source text incorrectly names Balangan Beach here]. The view from the cliff is considered one of the most beautiful among Bali's surf beaches, captivating photographers and tourists alike. The beach itself retains a strong traditional atmosphere, lined with simple warungs (local eateries) run by local surfers, rather than sophisticated beach clubs. While surfers gather from around the world, the vibe is very relaxed, with a leisurely pace. It's one of the best locations to watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean, offering a poetic scene as the sky and sea turn orange, silhouetting the surfers.

A Surfers' Paradise

Balangan [Note: Source text incorrectly refers to Balangan here] is known for its relatively easy-to-ride long wall waves, making it a popular spot for intermediate to advanced surfers. Several surf schools and board rentals are available on the beach, allowing beginners to take lessons. Many of the warungs lining the beach serve as community hubs where surfers check the waves or relax post-surfing. Even if you don't surf, you can soak up the Bali surf culture atmosphere just by watching their rides while enjoying a Bintang beer.

Nature: Low Tide Reef Walk

At low tide, a vast coral reef emerges from the water. Tide pools reveal small fish, crabs, starfish, and other marine life, offering a perfect opportunity for reef combing (tide pooling). However, the reef is sharp and slippery, so be sure to wear marine shoes or reef boots when exploring. Pay close attention to your footing to avoid stepping on living coral. Respecting the natural ecosystem is crucial.

Highlights (Check These Out!)

The viewpoint on the cliff is the highlight of this beach. It's also very popular for pre-wedding photoshoots. Walking to the cliff's edge offers both thrills and spectacular views, but be extremely careful as there are often no fences. Once down on the beach, renting a sunbed from a warung and relaxing all day is recommended. The Nasi Goreng and Mie Goreng served at the warungs are known for being affordable and delicious. At dusk, you can enjoy stunning sunsets from either the cliff top or the beach.
