A lush bird park focusing on Asian and Indonesian bird species. Features comprehensive bird shows.

This 2-hectare 'bird paradise' is home to over 1,000 birds from about 250 species, gathered primarily from across the Indonesian archipelago and around the world. The Bali Bird Park is not just an exhibit; it's one of Asia's most important facilities, dedicated to the mission of breeding and protecting endangered species. The park is geographically zoned according to the birds' native habitats (Bali, Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Papua, etc.), allowing you to journey through diverse avian worlds as if traveling the islands of Indonesia. In the massive walk-in aviary, you can have a moving experience as birds fly freely overhead, enveloping you in their beautiful calls and colors. The park is also world-renowned for its success in breeding the Bali Myna (Jalak Bali), a critically endangered, pure-white bird endemic to the island.

Conservation: The Last Stronghold for the Bali Myna

The Bali Myna was hunted to the brink of extinction in the wild due to its beauty. The Bali Bird Park plays a central role in the conservation and breeding of this bird, and many birds born here have contributed to reintroduction projects in places like West Bali National Park. Seeing them in the park is a precious opportunity to witness the frontline of conservation in Bali. A portion of the park's admission fee helps fund these conservation activities.

Culture: Birds in Myth and Ritual

In Balinese culture, birds have long held special meaning as messengers of the gods or carriers of souls. The Hindu god Vishnu rides the divine bird Garuda, and the goddess Saraswati is accompanied by a swan. Cockfighting has also been part of ancient rituals, with the blood spilled considered an offering to appease malevolent spirits. Observing the birds in the park while reflecting on their roles in Balinese mythology and rituals can lead to a deeper cultural understanding.

Highlights (What to Check Out!)

The daily 'Bird Show' is a must-see. You can enjoy a thrilling flight show where eagles, owls, and macaws soar just inches above the audience. The 'Feeding Times' for various birds are also popular. Be sure to check the schedule upon entry. The giant walk-in aviary in the Papua zone offers an experience just like wandering into a real jungle. The adjacent reptile-themed 'Rimba Reptile Park' can also be entered with a combination ticket.
